2. Schools
Many people move to the McKinney area because of the schools. McKinney schools are top-rated, with consistently high test scores and several award-winning schools.
3. Historic Downtown Area
You can’t talk about McKinney without talking about the historic square downtown! The Square has shopping, dining, craft stores, coffee houses. It has a local market, Local Yokel, where people can get their meats. It’s a great place to head to with the family on the weekends!
4. Recreation
Again, going back to the “Unique by Nature” motto, McKinney is full of parks and open spaces. Young families really enjoy being able to get out and enjoy the outdoors with the kids—until it’s too hot to go outside, that is. But speaking of the heat, the new Apex Center recently opened. It’s an 80,000 square foot fitness facility that includes an indoor pool. So even when it’s too hot to play outside, there’s still plenty to get out and do!
5. Location
McKinney, TX is in a great location. Even if you work in downtown Dallas, you’re only about 30 minutes away from your office. However, more and more businesses are realizing that there are many benefits to locating their headquarters north of downtown. Toyota, Liberty Mutual, and several other companies are relocating their headquarters to the Plano/McKinney area. People in the McKinney area are really enjoying not having to have long commutes to get to work.
